Logos

To connect all ORNL sites and give users a sense of where they are, add the ORNL preferred logo to your website masthead (the top-most part of the website). If the masthead already contains another ORNL logo, please replace it with the preferred version. A secondary logo option may be substituted if the site belongs to a recognized user facility, etc.  You can view and download these approved secondary logos from the ORNL Brand Guidelines Secondary Logos page.

For digital applications, small logos need special consideration. Downscaling larger graphics (bitmap or vector) to small sizes can lead to blurriness, causing the logo to become illegible.

The recommended minimum size for the ORNL two-line (preferred) logo is 32 pixels high (example below).

To avoid pixelation issues, it is recommended that a .svg version of the logo be used instead. This image format scales infinitely without loss of quality and displays perfectly on retina screens.

Logo Guidelines

  • All websites outside of ORNL’s central content management system (CMS) must follow the branding and design standards described in the Brand External Websites procedure.
  • Logos other than those described in the Brand External Websites SBMS procedure must not be used on public websites because they diminish the ORNL brand.

Footer Logos

Every ORNL website must contain the DOE Office of Science and UT-Battelle logos in the footer.
